Rajasthan Royals continues to suffer as foriegn players pull out from IPL 2021

Almost every country is suffering because of the current pandemic situation but more than that, India is going through the 2nd wave of Covid 19 & it is becoming deadly day by day. It is clearly visible by the increasing numbers in cases & deaths. This wave has also affected the ongoing IPL tournament as lot foriegn players have withdrawn from the league & have broken the bubble. The team which has suffered the most is Rajasthan Royals. With the withdrawal of Andrew Tye, RR is left with the bare minimum of players in their team & that is a red alert of RR & its management.

Like other sports leagues, IPL’s mid season transfer is not a normal thing to happen but according to the rule book of IPL, It allows Rajasthan to sign some new players provided that the signing stays under the criteria designed by BCCI. Let’s have a look at the top three players RR can target in this mid season transfer.

Jason Roy: The Englishman was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement of Mitchell Marsh after the Aussie pulled out of this edition of the T20 league. With the competition for the overseas spots in the SRH squad being as fierce as it gets, Roy hasn’t been able to feature in a single game so far. The situation, hence, makes him eligible for a transfer to Rajasthan.

Sam Billings: Another Englishman yet to feature in the 2021 season of IPL, Billings is a part of the Delhi Capitals squad. Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada, Chris Woakes, Tom Curran and Shimron Hetmyer are the overseas players that DC have used so far this season. The consistency of the team has devoid even Anrich Nortje, a superstar for the team from the last season, so far. With the franchise looking pretty much settled, it doesn’t look like Billings will get to feature for them anytime soon this season unless injury issues struck the franchise.

Dawid Malan: Malan joined the long list of English players participating in the IPL after being roped in by Punjab Kings late in the auction ahead of the 2021 season. His absence from the PBKS squad has been a surprising one considering the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Moises Henriques haven’t put in worthy performances to keep the Englishman on the bench. Though it looks like Malan will get to feature for Punjab sooner rather than later, he could be a big inclusion in the RR squad if the franchise bosses manage to convince PBKS to let him leave.
