Bowlers came to the party earlier before Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and the skipper Rishabh Pant contributed with the bat as Delhi Capitals (DC) sealed a dominant victory by 8 wickets over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 33 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Dubai on Tuesday.

Delhi Capitals won the match 33 of Indian Premier League (IPL) against SunRisers Hyderabad to lead the points table with seven victories in nine games they played.

Bowlers did the damage earlier to restrict SRH on 134/9 in the allotted overs. Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, and the skipper Rishabh Pant contributed with the bat as Delhi Capitals (DC) sealed a dominant victory by 8 wickets over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

“Obviously missing out on the first half of the tournament… Personally, I wanted to bring the energy. Looking at the first game of the tournament, we decided it was nice to see some grass. Nice to have some sort of assistance, we didn’t have to do too much; just keep it simple. I don’t focus on that [getting the big wickets]…,”

said Nortje, player of the match.

“Very happy with this performance. We had a good first phase… Happy to start this way. We want to focus on the process [is what Ponting says]. It was pretty good bowling… our bowlers did a pretty good job to restrict them. We have one of the quickest bowlers in the world. Pretty happy as the skipper…,”

said Rishabh Pant, the winning skipper of DC.

“Enjoying wearing the cap and enjoying the batting… Not a very true surface, so plan according to it. I consciously made the effort to increase the tempo in the powerplay… I love to be an impactful player on my side. Rabada and Nortje are our fast guns. Rabada has been doing great… He just comes and gets the wickets. Nortje is maturing nicely…,”

said Shikhar Dhawan, the orange cap holder.

“Didn’t get off to the start we would have liked. Some good fighting with the bat at the end; some 25 or 30 short in the end. Bit of a shame, but at the same time, important we keep the attitude the boys showed last time… Been a tough campaign so far. At our best, we can beat anybody. They are an outstanding side and have a great balance. They put us under pressure, and that is what you expect. Things started to unfold for us… It wasn’t to be today. Delhi was fantastic… For us, it is focusing on our cricket and trying to improve,”

said Williamson, the losing skipper of SRH.

Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals 139/2 (Shreyas Iyer 47*, Shikhar Dhawan 42; Rashid Khan 1/26) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 134/9 (Abdul Samad 28, Rashid Khan 22; Kagiso Rabada 3/37) by eight wickets.
