Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav are set to join the Test squad of India in the UK for the upcoming series against England with national selectors and BCCI requesting management for reinforcements.

Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav are confirmed to join the Indian Test squad against England. The two batters are selected in the Test squad for the upcoming five-match series.

Both will travel to the UK after national selectors agreed to the team management requests for an increase in the series.

Before the start of this series, three Indian players were ruled out due to injury. Due to these injuries, Shaw and Suryakumar will be replaced with these three players.

India has sought to supplement their Test squad in England following the injuries that have seen Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan. Gill suffered a leg injury after the World Test Championship Final. Now, he is working to recover from his injury in India.

During a three-day warm-up game, Avesh and Washington found finger injuries while playing against the Indian team. Both players will now return home for treatment.

The names of Shaw and Suryakumar will be added to the squad and a third player additions request was also reported. However, there is no confirmation about the third player that if he will join the squad or not.

No one knows when Shaw and Suryakumar will join the squad. Both players are currently involved in the white ball series against Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan and preparing for the T20 series.

“Yes, Prithvi and Surya are flying to the UK from Sri Lanka. Jayant was also supposed to go but there has been some change in plans due to quarantine requirements. Jayant is now not going.

“Both players will have a bubble to bubble transfer from Colombo to London. Whether they will fly in the middle of the T20 Internationals (Shaw and Suryakumar are part of a team in Sri Lanka) or post that is being worked out,”

the senior official told PTI.

“But yes, they are our replacement players for the Test series in England. They might just leave after the three T20 Internationals but we will get a confirmation in another three days,”

it added.

“In any case, if Ajinkiya misses the first Test, it will be KL Rahul who will bat in the middle-order in Nottingham. The team management is still confident that Ajinkya might be alright before the Nottingham Test,”

the source concluded.
