Pakistan’s clash with India in the cricketing world remains a sight to behold while former PCB chairman Tauqir Zia has claimed that BCCI has never refused a series with PCB.

Pakistan’s clash with India in the cricketing world remains a sight to behold. However, the fans have been disappointed for both nations to continue a bilateral series but due to political reasons, it has not been possible.

While talking about the matter in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, former PCB Chairman Tauqir Zia claimed that BCCI has never refused a series with PCB. The problem lies on the “government-to-government level”.

“BCCI has never refused to play against us [Pakistan]. The problem lies on the government-to-government level. Both cricketing boards are currently run by former cricketers who understand the importance of Pakistan-India matches. Sourav Ganguly and Ramiz Raja both want to promote cricket and there is nothing better than seeing a contest between these rivals,”

said Tauqir.

Adding on to his point, the former Chairman added that although the four-nation series was a good idea, which also included India as one of the participants. However, he said that practically it is not possible.

“Although the four-nation series was a great idea there are already so many franchise-model tournaments happening throughout the year. Because of this, I do not think there will be enough room left to gather the four nations in one timeframe,”

he said.

The four-nation series idea was tabled by PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja which included Australia, England, India, and Pakistan.

The proposal was recently pitched to the ICC after which Raja stated:

“Great discussion regarding 4 Nations series today at the ICC meeting. As a concept, it was welcomed and debated upon and seen as promoting the interest in the game. Fingers crossed. More when I am back at the office tomorrow.”

India and Pakistan will open their tournament campaign by playing against each other in the 2022 men’s T20 cricket World Cup. This big clash will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23, 2022. In the recent T20 World Cup, Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets.

However, there has been no development since then and it remains to be seen whether the fan will see all four top nations compete with each other or not.
