Rajasthan Royals gift a farewell jersey to Ben Stokes with his late father’s name on it before he flew back on Friday

RR all-rounder Ben Stokes had to skip the remaining matches of IPL 2021 following a finger injury and it turned out that he will be needing surgery, thus, he flew back to England on Friday, RR crew members gave him a farewell jersey with his late father’s name on it.

An important member of the RR side, Ben Stokes flew back to England on 17th April to undergo a finger surgery that he suffered against Punjab Kings as a result he was ruled out from the entire edition of IPL 2021.

In the only match that Stokes played against PBKS in IPL 2021, he got dismissed on a three-ball duck and with the ball, he did not put any impact on his side after conceding 12 runs in the only over that he bowled.

RR recently gave a farewell Tweet to Stokesy. It confirmed on Friday that the 29-year-old has flown back to England to get finger surgery and also wished him a speedy recovery. RR crew members also gifted a jersey with the name of his later father ‘Ged Stokes’ on it.

Ben Stokes has been a crucial part of the RR squad since the 2018 edition. The left-hander has scored 604 runs in 31 matches he played for RR  at an average of 23.23 and a strike rate of 130.45.

With the ball, Stokes has picked up 16 wickets and he was retained by the RR side for IPL 2021 edition.

RR does not have an ideal start of IPL 2021 as they lost their first match to PBKS in a close contest with a margin of 4 runs. In the next game, they gave a strong comeback in another thrilling finish with 3 wickets to spare against DC

RR has won the IPL title in the opening edition of 2008 and the last 2 editions, they have not even qualified for playoffs and managed to finish last on the points table in the 2020 edition. RR will face CSK on April 19th at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
