Former NiP CS:GO Star Lekr0 Signs for Dignitas
Renowned European eSports organization, Dignitas, has bolstered its CS:GO ranks with more flair and experience, with the announcement of their latest CS:GO signing, Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson. He was added to the roster, and will directly go into the starting lineup. Lekr0 has major CS:GO credentials, having played for another European CS:GO heavyweight, Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP).
Dignitas’ long-serving CS:GO player, Haris “H4RR3” Hadžić, will now presumably be demoted to the team’s bench warming role. Incidentally, Lekr0 will be reuniting with Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg, who is considered to be one of the biggest legends of modern CS:GO. He had the best time of his career at Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP), where he spent a legendary seven years playing professional Counter Strike with the team.
Lekr0 played and learned alongside the legendary “f0rest” through his early career at NiP. He was lucky enough to play alongside him in the first team of NiP from 2018, through to the earlier parts of 2020. In that two-year period, NiP did find some success, but that was far less than the replication of the glorious times they spent in the pro CS:GO scene in the game’s early days.
Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg played in a dominant NiP CS:GO roster that played and swept apart most of the teams from the peak of the CS:GO echo-system, in a particular two to three years phase. He was lucky enough to share the same dressing rooms as the other legendary NiP CS:GO players during his time, including:
- Adam “friberg” Friberg,
- Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund,
- Richard “Xizt” Landström, and
- Robin “Fifflaren” Johansson.
Through the years, these legends departed Ninjas in Pyjamas one by one, and “f0rest” was the last one standing. He also left the Swedish outfit in early 2020 for Dignitas.
The whole legendary roster somewhat reunited in the Dignitas ranks, with “Fifflaren” taking up the coaching role, and a Norwegian player named Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli taking up the final first team slot. Even at present, f0rest, friberg, and hallzerk all remain a huge part of the Dignitas CS:GO’s starting lineup. The only player to leave from that bunch is Xizt, and the only one to have retired is GeT_RiGhT. Fifflaren, too, has left his coaching role at Dignitas in the recent past.
Coming back to Lekr0, he left the colors of NiP in the latter part of last year and became an integral part of the CS:GO roster of the Danish eSports organization, North Gaming’s CS;Go team. But because of the pandemic-induced financial downslide of the Danish org and also because of the lack of a consistent run of good results, North Gaming had to shake their squad up a bit. They did so by putting their entire CS:GO roster up for transfer. By signing for Dignitas, Lekr0 has become the first of the inactive North Gaming players to have found a brand new employer.
In a major turn of events, Lekr0 will be seen making his debut for Dignitas as early as today, on the same day the announcement of his signing was made. He will be up against HAVU, a Finnish team, in the 1st round of the popular “Pinnacle Cup”.
