IPL 2023: Chennai Super Kings record 8-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore
In a high-scoring Indian Premier League (IPL) match played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), CSK managed to record a narrow victory by eight runs on Monday night with Devon Conway being the top performer for the winning side along with several other crucial contributions along the way.
Chennai Super Kings batted first and put on a huge total of 226/6 in their first innings with Devon Conway scoring 83 from 45 balls with the help of six sixes and six fours.
Among the other batsmen, Ajinkya Rahane scored 37 from just 20 balls while hitting three fours and two sixes whereas Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shivam Dubey once again made runs against the RCB side, hitting five sixes and two fours to make 52 from just 27 balls.
Ambati Rayudu made a quickfire 14 from six balls and all-rounder Moeen Ali also had fun in the middle, hitting two sixes to make 19 from just nine balls.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also was among run maker for Chennai Super Kings as the senior cricketer it won 6 to make 10 from eight balls as Chennai Super Kings finished at a strong total of 226/6 in their 20 overs.
In a stiff chase, Royal Challengers made a poor start with their star batsman and former captain Virat Kohli was dismissed in the first over by Akash Singh for just six runs and Mahipal Lomror failed to get runs despite facing five balls as he was dismissed for a duck.
RCB were struggling at 15/2 after two hours but a brilliant partnership between their overseas stars Glenn Maxwell and captain Faf du Plessis brought them back into the game.
Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis added more than hundred runs for the third wicket while scoring their respective half centuries to bring RCB very close to victory but despite trying really hard, their remaining batsmen could not deliver commentary.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis made 62 from 33 balls with the help of five boundaries and four sixes whereas Glenn Maxwell was in tremendous form, hitting its success and only three boundaries to make 76 from 36 balls to record yet another half century in IPL 2023 tournament.
However, despite being in a situation where they could have one, Royal Challengers Bangalore could not complete the job. All-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed made 12 whereas wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik did well to score 28 from 14 balls with three fours and a six but his effort was just not enough.
Suyash Prabhudessai mid-19 from just 11 balls hitting two sixes in the process but needing 19 runs to win from the last over, Royal Challengers Bangalore could not get the target and Chennai Super Kings won the match by eight runs.
In reply to Chennai Super Kings huge total, Royal Challengers Bangalore finished at 218/8 with Tushar Deshpande being the most successful bowler for the CSK side taking three wickets for 45 runs in his four overs while Maheesh Pathirana took two wickets for 42 runs in his four overs.
