Delhi Capitals will need to solve their opening dilemma quickly and find an able partner to complement David Warner if they want to return to the top four in the ongoing IPL on Sunday with a win against the Chennai Super Kings, who are standing on the brink of elimination.

Delhi Capitals are currently in the fifth position in the table of the points with 10 points after their 21-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last game.

However, Chennai Super Kings are still in the tournament although their chances of making it to the playoffs are almost non-existent.

MS Dhoni is currently leading the franchise and they are in the penultimate position with just six points from 10 matches but need to win all of its remaining games and depend on the results of other matches to qualify for the next stage.

While Delhi Capitals have a major problem at hand an able opening partner David Warner.

Prithvi Shaw has failed to show his talent in the ongoing IPL edition, gathering just 259 runs from nine matches at an average of 28.77. His replacement in the last game, Mandeep Singh hasn’t proceeded well either with just 18 runs from three outings.

Now it is seen whether DC opts for Shaw again to bat with Warner, which in any case, would be suited best for the side.

Warner remains DC’s top run-scorer this edition, scoring 356 runs from eight games with his unbeaten 92 runs against SRH in the last match being the highest.

Skipper Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh have got starts but have failed to recreate into big scores and it’s time the duo rises to the instance.

On the bowling front, spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pacers Khaleel Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, and Mustafizur Rahman all have picked up wickets but they have been a little on the higher side of the economy rate.

Kuldeep has been phenomenal for DC, picking up wickets at will with his newfound confidence.

On the other hand, CSK is suffering from the injuries and the poor form of some of their key players throughout the season hasn’t helped their cause either.

While CSK lost key players Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne to injuries for the entire season, the poor form of opener batter Ruturaj Gaikwad and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who give away captaincy midway into the tournament, has added to the team’s woes.

On the bowling front, Mahesh Theeksana, Mukesh Chaudhry, and Dwayne Bravo have been among wickets but have leaked runs.
