Liverpool vs Real Madrid. Prediction and Preview. Probable Lineups, Team News, Stats and more
The decisive match of Europe’s premier tournament will take place on the Saturday to Sunday night.
In this long-awaited clash, which will finally decide the winner of the Champions League 2021/2022, Liverpool will get a unique chance to take revenge on Real Madrid for the disappointing defeat in the UCL final in Kiev (2017/18).
The teams’ journey has been long and arduous, but now they will put an end to the question of the strongest club in all of Europe.
Let’s try to figure out which team has the best chance of lifting the trophy. Parimatchnews will tell you everything you need to know ahead of the upcoming match.
Liverpool News & Current Form:
Liverpool reached the Champions League final for the third time in the last four years. In 2018, the Merseysiders lost in the decisive match to Real Madrid, and the following season they won the trophy by beating Tottenham in the premier encounter.
The current campaign has a good chance of ending on a major note. Unfortunately, the Reds have failed to win the Premier League, only a single point separated them from the equally brilliant Manchester City at the end of the season. Annoyingly, the competition in England is just extreme at the moment. According to Pep Guardiola, the Citizens were just a little luckier.
Although the aim was to win the Quadruple, Liverpool are already having a good season winning the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. Finishing it with a grand Champions League trophy would be the cherry on the cake – especially considering the need to make amends for the previous disappointing final is a point of principle.

Liverpool were also fairly convincing in the play-offs, straining only when the situation demanded it. In the 1/8 finals, Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Inter Milan thanks to an away win.
It was the same story against Benfica Lisbon. In the return leg at Anfield, Liverpool simply controlled the situation and tried to maintain their advantage spending as little energy as it possible.
In the semi-finals, however, such an approach almost cost them a place in the final. Liverpool were 0-2 down to Villarreal after the first half of the second leg. The Spanish side were in complete control of the pitch at the time, but after the break they faced a real Liverpool. The result was a 3-2 win for Klopp’s side.
Real Madrid News & Current Form:
Real Madrid’s current European campaign is another classy story to be filmed. While the group stage was almost perfect for Madrid, the play-offs saw real drama. In every match. So far, exclusively with elements of a happy ending.
Three times, Real Madrid were on the verge of elemination, but each time, by some miracle, they were managing to come back. Carlo Ancelotti’s side accomplished their first heroics in the return leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the 1/8th. By the 60th minute, Real Madrid were losing 0-2, but Karim Benzema soon netted a hat-trick, leaving both Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar in the shadow.
In the quarter-finals, Real Madrid have managed to beat Chelsea on aggregate. Here it was the other way round: Madrid played the first match in London to perfection, and in the home game they were ten minutes away from relegation from the Champions League, but as usual they staged a comeback.
But it was all almost an inconspicuous fuss compared to what Real Madrid did in the semi-final battle with Manchester City. That rescue will surely go down in history as one of the most epic. Man City led 5-3 on agg. until the 90th minute of the second leg, after which the show began.
Real Madrid brought the game to overtime thanks to Rodrygo‘s double, but it was there that Karim Benzema, the king of this competition, came to the spotlight. It’s hard to say how Real Madrid do it, but it’s clear that Ancelotti’s side are ready for anything.
Davil Alaba has a minor problem, but he is still expected to recover in time for the final.

What has been said before the match:
“So, if I would do now something surprising for my players, for example, then they could think I’m nervous; if I pull now a rabbit out of the hat and these kind of things. I believe when you do the right stuff all the time then it is the right thing to do in the final as well. But, it has to be on the highest level possible. We obviously played some really, really good stuff this season, we are not here by surprise or we got a ticket or something like that – we deserved it as well. So, being us on the highest level would be cool. If we could do that then, as I said, we are a really uncomfortable opponent. A really uncomfortable opponent. That’s what we have to be. We can talk about what Real Madrid achieved in the past and this season, how good their players are, we probably could write a book together now about this team. But we are good as well and that’s what we want to show.”
“This is something you dream about but you can’t control. This is my fifth. I have good memories of all my finals. The best one was the final vs Liverpool in ’05 but we lost it. Anything can happen. We have to be ready.”
“There is a story behind every game. I see the same level of motivation. Maybe we are less worried this time around. Ahead of the game in Lisbon, that was the start of a long run of success. The build-up is different.”
Liverpool vs Real Madrid Prediction:
Four years ago, Real Madrid defeated Liverpool cold bloodedly in the Champions League final in Kiev. On top of that, Madrid were helped by a ridiculous error by Reds goalkeeper Loris Karius and by Mohamed Salah’s injury early in the first half.
This time, Liverpool have a different goalkeeper (reliable) and a maximally motivated Salah, who stated a couple of months ago that he wanted to face Real Madrid in the final. The Egyptian is hungry for revenge.
Unlike Liverpool, who battled to the very last minute for the EPL title, Real Madrid have in fact been waiting three weeks for a crucial match in the Champions League. There are opinions that Ancelotti’s team were more fortunate – after all, they had plenty of time to gather energy before the final. But the truth is that such downtime can sometimes only be detrimental.
Real have already taught everyone about their comebacks, but there is a suspicion that Liverpool will make the most of the bad experiences of both PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City. The main thing here is to ensure that Liverpool’s doctors have time to put Fabinho and Tiago Alcantara back on their feet.
Liverpool will win if they go into the match with their ideal squad. The intrigue in this match will last at most until midway through the second half, this time without the usual Real Madrid comeback.
