Ryan Garcia knocked Luke Campbell out and won the WBC title

Ryan Garcia
Garcia celebrates victory over Campbell

A bout for the interim WBC title between Garcia and Campbell resulted in Ryan’s victory by knockout. Luke lost second fight in a row and dropped out of the championship race.

Garcia is looking forward to facing Gervonta Davis

Ryan opened up aggressively and started pressuring Campbell early in the clash. Luke ramped up the pace in the second round and landed a big left hook, dropping The Flash down. However, Cool Hand failed to build on the success and implement an offensive game plan. Garcia stopped the action in the seventh round, landing a huge liver shot. Luke got on his knees but could not work back to his feet before the count reached 10. As a result, Ryan won by KO at 1:58. Throughout the contest, The Flash landed 27% more strikes and delivered 2% more power shots. He dropped only the second heat on judges’ scorecards due to knockdown.

Campbell claimed that the body shot, which had sent him to the canvas, was the hardest one he had ever absorbed. Luke was disappointed with a loss but wished Ryan all the best and expressed confidence in Garcia’s brilliant future.

Young American prospect has already chosen a rival for his next showdown. He wants to take on WBA champion Gervonta Davis. Tank will definitely be the toughest opponent in Garcia’s career. Davis is an undefeated boxer with an impressive record of 24-0 and a whopping 96% finish rate. In his last contest against Leo Santa Cruz, Gervonta defended the WBA Regular belt at lightweight and earned the WBA Super title in the 130-pound division. BoxRec ranks Tank second on the list of the top lightweights.
