Shubman Gill made news ever since he hit the cricketing arena with this spectacular/play and calm head which helps him also find a place in the leadership group of the two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Kolkata Knight Riders.

Gill is known for his temperament as well as his commanding batting style, which is extremely disciplined as he does not normally look to get over aggressive and keeps the ball on the ground while garnering many runs across formats.

But in an era where cricketing fans and the general public are increasingly getting more educated and curious about cricket statistics and the numbers that make the game different and special from the other sports, Gill says that he does not read too much into factors such as strike rate and he wants to keep things simple and play games as per the situations.

“I think strike-rate is kind of overrated. It’s all about how you adapt to a certain situation. If the team demands you to play with a strike rate of 200 you should be able to do it. If the team demands you to play at a strike rate of 100, you should be able to do it. It’s just about adapting to the match situation,”

Gill told PTI.

“There shouldn’t be a certain pattern to your game where you are only able to play one kind of game and not be able to adapt to different situations,”

he added.

Gill, who had a sparkly start to his test career but could not gather much runs against England in the four match series, says that he is not too worried about lack of cricket with the white ball ahead of IPL 2021.

“I don’t think it will affect anything because we have almost 10-12 days before our first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (April 11) so there’s plenty of time for me to prepare,”

he said.
