One of the best indian hockey players Namita Toppo get Ekalabya Puraskar

Namita Toppo will acquire the prestigious Ekalabya Puraskar for 2020. She is one of India’s most steadfast and high conducting hockey players. Jury members of the Ekalabya Puraskar Committee choose Odia for the award after Sunday’s meeting.

At the award ceremony, Namita will get a cash award of Rs 5 lakh. Interestingly, all the three winners of Ekalabya Puraskar this year are women.

163-cap midfielder Namita performed for India in Rio Olympics in 2016 and other international competitions. She is ascribed to have spearheaded numerous wins for Indian national team at international tournaments.

As former MP and trustee of IMPaCT Baijayant Panda said at announcing the winners,

“IMPaCT has been in continuous pursuit to recognize and foster excellence in sports and literature besides contributing to the general welfare of the society at large. Ekalabya Puraskar is established to help and encourage young sportsmen to perform at the national and international arena.”

The date for the award ceremony will be declared later.
