Odisha signs winger Redeem Tlang on loan from Goa
Odisha has completed the signing of Indian winger Redeem Tlang on loan from Goa in a deal that will see him represent the Kalinga Warriors till the end of the 2021-22 Indian Super League season.
The 26-year-old midfielder from Shillong made only one appearance for Goa this season, but he is likely to feature frequently in the Odisha line-up. Announcing the signing on social media, the club wrote:
“The club has secured Redeem Tlang’s signature from FC Goa on a season-long loan as a part of our January reinforcements.”
Redeem started his professional career with local side Shillong Lajong in the 2013/14 season and made his senior debut against Churchill Brothers in an I-League match. In the same season, he was roped in by NorthEast United for the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League.
The winger expressed his views on the signing by stating:
“I’m very happy and excited to be here and joining the Juggernauts. I’ll give my everything for the club.”
After the inaugural ISL season, Redeem returned to Shillong Lajong, where he plied his trade until the 2017/18 season. The Highlanders acquired the services of the tricky winger for the second time in the 2018/19 season, where he was a regular feature in the team’s starting XI.

Naturally a right-winger, Redeem can also feature in the left-wing and has played as a striker on rare occasions as well. In his two-year-long second stint with the Highlanders, the Meghalaya lad scored four goals in 35 appearances.
Goa signed the winger ahead of the 2021/22 season and since then, Redeem has made 19 appearances for the Gaurs. He has scored a couple of goals – one in this competition and the other in the Durand Cup.
Speaking on the signing, Odisha’s interim head coach Kino Garcia said:
“I think Redeem is a good addition to the team. He is a player with experience in the ISL. Redeem is a player with pace, with good abilities in both legs. He can play in the attacking zone and outside of it. It’s good for us bringing his experience and competitiveness to the squad. We are happy to have him on board.”
The 2021 Durand Cup winner has made a total of 106 appearances in his professional career, 47 of which have come in ISL. Redeem has scored 10 goals – four each for NorthEast United and Shillong Lajong and two for Goa.
This was Odisha’s third signing of the winter transfer window, as Garcia’s team is plotting for a move to the top four of the league standings. Currently placed in the seventh position, the Kalinga Warriors recently acquired the services of goalkeeper Antonio D’Silva and defender Karan Amin.
