West Indies is all set to visit Pakistan for three ODIs on June 8, 10, and 12, confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a media release on Monday. All the matches will be played at the Rawalpindi Stadium.
It is also understood that the PCB is yet to decide whether the series will be played in a bio-secure bubble or not and whether the traveling party of the West Indies will have to undergo any quarantine procedure or not.
The PCB also announced that West Indies have agreed to play three T20Is in Pakistan “in early 2023”, with the precise dates yet to be announced.
The ODI series will be part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League. West Indies have also agreed to take part in the three-match T20I rubber in 2023.
West Indies will be arriving at Islamabad on June 5 for the series. Originally, the three-match ODI series was part of the West Indies tour in December last year.
After arriving for the tour, the West Indian camp was hit by the Covid-19 virus in which three players from the squad and a member of supporting staff tested positive for the virus.
Despite, the Covid-19 surge, both the teams managed to conclude the three-match T20I series. However, the ODI series has been postponed to June after five other members in the camp were caught in the virus.
But, currently, the focus of the Babar Azam–led Pakistan side is to deal with the Australian side for an ongoing tour. The Aussies will lock horns with Pakistan in three ODIs and a T20I match.
The ODI series will kick off on 29th March 2022 and will conclude on 2nd April 2022. The only T20I match of the series will be played on 5th April 2022.
Before the limited-overs assignment, Pakistan and Australia were involved in a historic and grueling three-match Test series. After the first two Test matches ended in a draw, the Aussies decimated the Pakistan outfit by 115 runs in the final session of the final Test to seal the series.
