The snake shot – Rashid Khan named his match-winning sixes against SRH
Rashid Khan smashed three sixers off the last four balls against Gujrat Titans after a thrilling five-wicket victory against SunRisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League 2022.
Rashid Khan starred with the bat to become an apple of the eye for Gujrat fans after smashing three sixes off the last four balls to take a five-wicket victory against SunRisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League 2022.
The all-rounder had the eyes of everyone with his brutal hitting in the last over against SRH in the IPL 2022 game on Wednesday.
GT needed 22 off the last six deliveries while chasing 196 against SRH. Rahul Tewatia scored a six off the first delivery bowled by Marco Jansen and then took the single off the next ball to give the strike to Rashid.
He hit three sixes, some of which came off flat shots in the last four balls to GT across the line in a thumping victory.
The first six went to the long-on, the second was smashed over the cover against a wide Yorker. Running out of deliveries, Jansen aimed a short ball into Rashid’s body but veteran Afghan spinner nailed a pull behind deep square leg to win the game against his former franchise.
“I call it the Snake Shot. When a snake bites someone it springs back. When the ball is too full, I can’t finish the shot completely. My body position doesn’t allow me to finish the shot. If I try to do that, I can’t generate the power. So I have worked on it a lot and strengthened my wrists for it,”
Rashid told GT captain Hardik Pandya after the match in a video posted by IPL on Twitter.
In the post-match presentation, Khan had said how he planned the last over.
“Happy to deliver against them (SRH), just trying to play my game and have that belief on my batting which I’m working from the last two years. When it was 22 left. I just told Tewatia that we have given 25 in the last over with one of our best bowlers bowling and I told him that we needed to have that belief and not panic, anything is possible. Just stay there, keep your shape, and hit it strong and that was the plan (with Tewatia),”
he said.
“We have been given very positive energy from the captain on and off the field and especially our head coach Ashish Bhai has kept the team in a beautiful environment. We are enjoying each other’s company and trying to give our hundred percent. So happy to win and these two points really help the team in the end and lucky to be on the right side.”
Gujarat Titans 199 for 5 (Saha 68, Tewatia 40*, Rashid 31*, Malik 5-25) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 195 for 6 (Abhishek 65, Markram 56, Shashank 25*, Shami 3-39) by five wickets.
