Gujarat Titans seal thrilling win by 5 wickets over Sunrisers Hyderabad

Gujarat Titans won their 7th match from 8 played so far

Wriddhiman Saha, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia undid all the hard work done by the right-arm Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Umran Malik to power Gujarat Titans to a memorable and a thrilling victory by 5 wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The young Umran Malik bowled the best spell for any bowler in this IPL 2022 taking 5-25 in his 4 overs while Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram slammed fifties, scoring 65 and 56 respectively to push Sunrisers Hyderabad to a huge 195-6 in 20 overs.

But their big total on Wednesday night was still not enough against the Gujarat Titans, who found many heroes in their camp to record their 7th win from 8 matches to go to the top of the IPL 2022 points table once again, this time with a grand total of 14 points.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, the left-handed opening batsman Abhishek Sharma top scored for his side with 65 from 42 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes whereas Aiden Markram made 56 from 40 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.

The SRH all-rounder Shashank Singh slammed 3 sixes and 1 four late in the innings to take his team close to the 200-run mark, which was chased down by GT on the final ball of the match with 5 wickets in hand.

For Gujarat Titans, their India fast bowler Mohammad Shami returned with 4-0-39-3 whereas Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph took one wicket each.

In their reply, the GT side was powered by a brilliant 68 from their wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who hit 11 fours and 1 six from the 38 balls that he faced to keep his side on track for a win.

The Gujarat Titans middle-order could not chip in with runs as after Shubman Gill was dismissed for 22, Hardik Pandya could manage only 10 and David Miller scored 17 as they were left struggling at 139/5 in the 16th over with a lot of work left to be done.

Umran Malik dismissed David Miller, and Abhinav Manohar for a first-ball duck in the 16th over, to put Hyderabad in complete command but the batting side came back rolling into the contest through the pair of Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan, who took them to an unlikely but a thrilling victory.

Rahul Tewatia remained unbeaten on 40 from 21 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 2 sixes whereas the former Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan, who bowled an expensive spell earlier in the match, hit 3 sixes in the final over to finish at 31 not out from just 11 balls with 4 sixes over on to help other side record and unlikely but an exciting victory.

Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia added 59 runs unbeaten for the sixth wicket.
