PCB, together with Pakistan Super League franchises owner has considered holding an auction instead of drafting in the upcoming season to attract more players.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and HBL PSL franchises are considering IPL like an auction for the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League draft.

According to sources, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja had met PSL franchise owners on Friday. By these changes, Ramiz Raja is considering various options to attract big name of the game.

It is believed that this step could prove useful in attracting top-tier cricketers. Using an auction can lead to higher wages as compared to the draft system of pre-determined salaries.

During the meeting, the franchises owners also told the PCB Chairman about the losses that they have faced in the last six years and emphasized carrying the new financial model.

Ramiz Raja assured that PCB will not disappoint them. He further said to the team owners that he understand the problems they faced and promised to work with them.

The franchises also asked PCB to share Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jilaini’s report on the financial model while PCB maintained its position of keeping the report nonpublic.

However, PCB will share the proposal about the new financial model in another meeting which is scheduled on Monday.

The PCB also restated that if they are not careful about the changes in the financial model then National Accountant Bureau (NAB) or Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) can create problems for them in the future.

Responding to this, one of the franchise owners claimed that he can get the approval of any high-ranking governments officials if needed.

Sources added that Raja is also keen on holding HBL PSL 8 matches in Gilgit Baltistan, once the stadium fulfills the International standards.
