A little more than one week later – on March 8, the WTA 500 series tournament will start, which will last until the 13th. Twenty-eight participants will fight for victory, showing their skills on the hard courts of Doha, Qatar.

Ashleigh Barty, the first racket of the world, the winner of 19 WTA tournaments, and the winner of the cup of one Grand Slam, unfortunately, won’t perform at the tournament due to her left leg injury.

Today, Barty lost in the second round in Adelaide to American tennis player Danielle Collins. The Australian plans to return to the competition only at the end of March in Miami. It means she is withdrawing from the tournament in Dubai, held in the middle of the month.

By the way, the tournament takes place from the 21st to 27th of this month, so we are about to find out the name of the winner, who will receive prize money for more than 500 thousand dollars. Twenty-eight participants of the main draw fight on Adelaide, Australia’s hard courts, and the tournament itself is designated as a WTA 500 series tournament.

If we talk about the women’s main draw, then in the tournament semifinals, we can already see 2 participants: American Cori Gauff and Swiss tennis player Gil Belen Teichmann. The names of the other two semi-finalists are still unknown.

Returning to the tournament in Doha. Thus, five players have already withdrawn from Qatar’s tournament, which will be held next week. Earlier, Simona Halep, Sofia Kenin, Bianca Andreescu, and Marketa Vondrousova also refused to participate.
