As already known, yesterday started one of the largest tournaments of the Masters series – Miami Open, which will be held on the open hard courts of Miami, USA, until April 4. It should be noted the tournament has both a men’s tournament draw and a woman’s. The only difference is that this tournament takes place under the WTA 1000 category for women, Masters – exclusively for men. Otherwise, everything is the same: 96 participants will fight not only for the right to be called the best but also for a prize fund of more than $3 million.

Unlike the men’s singles, all the first-round matches have already been played in the women’s. Even one participant has already managed to reach the third without playing a single game. It’s a Belarusian tennis player, the former first racket of the world – Victoria Azarenka.

How did that happen, you ask? Since Victoria is the 14th seed in the tournament, she didn’t play the first round in principle. Her second opponent was supposed to be German Laura Siegemund, who beat American Christina Mchale in the first round. However, Siegemund withdrew from the tournament due to a knee injury.

Thus, Azarenka, having not played a match, reached the third round. There she will meet with the winner of the pair Angelique Kerber and Renata Zarazua.
