In early January 2022, FIFA will publish its Global Transfer Report 2021, which will offer a more comprehensive analysis of the international transfer market

The International Football Federation (FIFA) has published the International Transfer Snapshot, which provides various information regarding deals between clubs this summer.

From June to August 2021, all clubs worldwide made 7,481 international transfers, slightly less than last year (7,771).

Total costs for all transfers were $3.72 billion, down 7.5% from 2020 ($4.02 billion). That’s just over 60% of the record amount spent in 2019 ($5.8 billion).

English clubs had the highest combined spend on international transfers during this summer’s transfer window, analysis conducted by FIFA has shown – $1.147 billion. Eredivisie spent the least of the top 10 championships, only $53 million.

  • Also, for the first time, the total outlay for international transfers of professional female players during the summer window exceeded $1 million.
  • In total, clubs spent $48.5 billion on transfer fees from 2011 to 2020.
  • Annual spending increased from $2.66 billion in 2012 to $7.35 billion in 2019.
