Milan ended their 11-year Serie A title drought in style by thrashing Sassuolo 3-0 on the final day courtesy of a brace from Oliver Giroud and the last goal by a departing Franck Kessie within the first forty-five minutes. Title contenders Inter, too, beat their opponents 3-0 but their victory went in vain as they fell short by two points in the end.

Torino 0-3 Roma

Roma secured a 3-0 victory over Torino to confirm their participation in Europa League the next season as it unburdened the pressure ahead of their Conference League finals against Feyenoord. Tammy Abraham opened the scoring for the away side in the 33rd minute after Lorenzo Pellegrini latched on to a loose ball in the opposite half and passed it towards him.

After being brought down inside the box by the ‘keeper in the 42nd minute, Abraham fired his shot through the centre to double Roma’s lead. It was Pellegrini’s turn to convert the penalty in the 78th minute as the ‘keeper failed to time his dive towards the bottom corner properly.

Genoa 0-1 Bologna

After a goalless first half, Musa Barrow pierced the ball through the legs of the ‘keeper to give Bologna a breakthrough in the 66th minute. No more goals were scored in the match as Genoa ended their Serie A campaign in the 19th spot.

Fiorentina kept on knocking on the doors of Juventus throughout the first half and was duly rewarded in its dying embers when Alfred Duncan made the most of a fallen Giacomo Bonaventura pass to smash it home.

Leonardo Bonucci brought down Lucas Torreira inside the box and Nicolas Gonzalez stepped up to slam home the penalty in the 92nd minute of the game as the victory handed Fiorentina the final European spot on offer.

Atalanta 0-1 Empoli

Atalanta took a staggering 40 shots in the game against Empoli but was unable to find the net courtesy of a resilient Guglielmo Vicario between the sticks. The game took a different direction in the 79th minute when Leo Stulac rocketed home a first-time shot from outside the box to score the solitary goal of the contest for Empoli.

Lazio 3-3 Verona

Verona drew first blood in the 6th minute after Giovanni Simeone peeled away his marker to nod home the ball from close range. Kevin Lasagna doubled the advantage after going solo from the halfway mark before unleashing a powerful shot from 30 yards out that struck both the woodworks before trickling in.

However, the two-goal cushion lasted for only two minutes as Jovane Cabral curled the ball into the top corner in the 16th minute to give Lazio hopes of a comeback. Felipe Anderson sneaked through a host of legs to slam his shot past the ‘keeper as the home side levelled the proceedings in the 29th minute.

Pedro pounced on a rebound to poke the ball into an empty net as Lazio found themselves in the ascendancy for the first time in the 62nd minute. However, Martin Hongla restored parity for Verona in the 76th minute after tapping home Darko Lazovic’s cross from a hand-shaking distance.

Spezia 0-3 Napoli

Matteo Politano gave Napoli an early lead in the contest after skedaddling his way through the opposition defenders from the centre-line before unleashing a scorching strike from outside the box that nestled into the far corner.

Piotr Zieliński capitalized on a loose ball inside the box and smothered it into the net after Spezia defenders failed to clear it properly to double Napoli’s lead in the 25th minute. Diego Demme played a brilliant one-two with fellow teammate Andrea Petagna in the box before rounding off the ‘keeper and prodding the ball home in the 36th minute to complete the away side’s 3-0 routing.

After a goalless first half that saw Inter miss a plethora of chances, the Nerazzurri finally broke the deadlock in the 49th minute after Ivan Perisic elevated the ball over the ‘keeper’s head to pick out the bottom corner. Six minutes later, Joaquin Correa curled his volley straight into the net to double Inter’s lead.

The home side had to wait for only two minutes to triple their lead as Correa made a darting run from deep inside his own half towards the opposition box before slotting the ball in the bottom corner.

Sassuolo 0-3 Milan

Requiring only a draw to lift the Serie A title, Milan got a breathing space in the 17th minute when Oliver Giroud whizzed the ball through the legs of the ‘keeper after connecting a low cross from Rafael Leao.

Leao and Giroud were amidst the thick of the action once again in the 32nd minute when the former made a run through the byline to drive a pass for the latter, who made no mistake in poking the ball from a point-blank range.

Franck Kessie put the finishing touches on Milan’s title triumph after latching on to Leao’s cutback pass and powered his shot from the inside of his boot in the 36th minute. Sassuolo was content in restricting the damage in the second half while Milan wore down the clock as they ended their eleven-year Scudetto drought in style.

Venezia 0-0 Cagliari

Cagliari required nothing less than a victory to survive in Serie A but they were forced to settle for a goalless draw against bottom-placed Venezia. The away side finished with 30 points in their bag while 17th placed Salernitana had just one more point by the end of the league.

Salernitana 0-4 Udinese

Gerard Deulofeu scored Udinese’s first goal in the 6th minute after curling his shot from outside the box as the ball bounced just in front of the ‘keeper before travelling past the goal-line. An unmarked Ilija Nestorovski thudded home his header from inside the box after craning his neck off a well-weighted Nahuel Molina cross.

Destiny Udogie swung his shot from outside the box into the top corner in the 42nd minute to triple Udinese’s advantage. Roberto Pereyra had missed a penalty in the first half but didn’t slack a bit in the 57th minute as he made a run through the centre in a counter-attacking move before rounding off two Salernitana defenders and slotting the ball past the ‘keeper’s reach.
