Fans celebrate the historic moment on the streets of the city

Fans rejoice: Rangers have become the Scottish champions before the end of the season. Second-placed Celtic drew 0-0 with Dundee today and lost their mathematical chance of catching up.

Celtic needed to win at Tannadice Park to delay Rangers’ title celebrations. Despite dominating the game, however, a goal proved elusive for Neil Lennon’s side. They had to settle for a goalless draw against Dundee United to give Gerrard the first league title of his career.

It is their first title in 10 years (3585 days) and their record 55th in history.

Rangers’ fans celebrating in Glasgow:

Pat Bonner, former Celtic goalkeeper:

“Even though Rangers haven’t kicked a ball today, it’s their day. To only lose nine goals, it doesn’t matter what league you’re in, that’s a fantastic piece of work. There is no bonus for Celtic, even if they win the Scottish Cup this year. They’ve thrown away an almighty chance to make history by winning 10 titles in a row. Greetings from Liverpool:

Moreover, after 32 tours, Rangers are unbeaten! 28 wins, 4 draws, 77 goals scored and 9 conceded and have 88 points. Celtic have only 68 points.

  • Former Liverpool midfielder and captain Steven Gerrard has been in charge of Rangers since 2018. It is his first independent managerial job at senior level and his first trophy as well.
  • March 7th is the earliest date the Scottish champions have been confirmed since 1902/03, when Hibernian won the title on 20th December with 2 of their 22 matches to spare.
