Arsenal will host Liverpool at Emirates Stadium in the 30th round of the English Premier League. The match will take place on March 17, beginning at 01:45 AM IST.

The UEFA Champions League and Europa League football are making us happy with their high-profile battles this week. But EPL is in a hurry to add even more excitement and drive to the lives of football fans – on Tuesday night there will be a rescheduled encounter in the 27th round of the English Premier League between two magnificent sides Arsenal and Liverpool.

Arsenal are in very good form at the moment, playing some of their best football in recent years. Will Jurgen Klopp’s side be capable of winning and minimising the distance between them and Manchester City, who recently slipped points against Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace?

Let’s get the most important things before the game: Parimatch News have prepared a preview and prediction for you.

Arsenal News & Current Form:

Many are delighted with the Gunners: Mikel Arteta seems to have finally managed to put the puzzle together: the youngest squad in the English top flight league impress with their consistent beautiful football, they are now considered as a serious threat and having the biggest chance to finish in top-4.

In the last five rounds of the English Premiership, Arsenal defeated Wolverhampton (1-0 and 2-1), Brentford (2-1), Watford (3-2) and a weakened Leicester (2-0). The successful performances have helped them climb to fourth place in the standings to continue their quest to qualify for the Champions League.

The Red and White’s superb form is partly linked to the spending and accumulation of their limited strength on the Premier League alone (the depth of the squad, it must be said, is rather fragile). In other competitions, Mikel Arteta’s side have not fared well. They were eliminated from the FA Cup in the 1/32 finals, losing to Championship side Nottingham Forest (0-1). In the English League Cup they were eliminated after losing the return leg to Liverpool (0-2). These results, as it was said, are caused by the short bench, injuries and low chemistry between reserves.

The Londoners are planning to reinforce six players during the summer transfer window. According to some reports, they are interested in acquiring two strikers, a midfielder, a winger, a left-sided central defender and a right-back. However, the summer is still a long time away, while some fresh blood would be helpful at the moment.

Liverpool News & Current Form:

For all the above, Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking much stronger. They have secured victories in the last eight rounds of the EPL and have consolidated their 2nd position in the table. They are just three points behind leader Manchester City. Furthermore, their record is excellent: the Reds conceded just 20 goals in 28 games, while their goalscoring record is the highest in the league at 73.

The magnificent Mohamed Salah has 20 of them, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane have 12 each. The trio of strikers tops the England goalscoring charts and work brilliantly on the pitch. It was partly thanks to their efforts that the Reds qualified for the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds from first place and progressed to the quarter-finals, beating Inter 2-1 on aggregate.

Jürgen Klopp played a key role in that success. The German is very efficient with his resources and as a result he excels in all competitions. Recently, his side were victorious in the League Cup final against Chelsea (0-0, 11-10 on penalties). One of the heroes of the encounter was Caoimhin Kelleher, the team’s second goalkeeper.

The FA Cup is also alright. The Merseysiders have reached the quarter-finals, having beaten Shrewsbury Town (4-1), Cardiff City (3-1) and Norwich (2-1) in the previous stages. In the latter encounter, Japanese striker Takumi Minamino scored a double. The striker could come in handy in the upcoming encounter, as Salah sustained an injury in the last round of the Premier League against Brighton (2-0).

On the other hand, the Egyptian’s absence should not affect the results too much. When Salah and Sadio Mane departed for the Africa Cup, they were wonderfully replaced by Diogo Jota. The Portuguese helped the Reds beat Arsenal 2-0 in the return leg for example.

Luis Diaz enforced the side in the winter transfer window. The Colombian has been impressive we should note. He shows really strong performance and, recently, scored the winning goal on 19 minutes in the last round of the EPL against Brighton.

Arsenal and Liverpool have already played three head-to-head games this season. In the first round of the EPL, Liverpool did not leave a chance for the Londoners at home, scoring four unanswered goals. The teams also met in the English League Cup semi-finals. At Anfield, the teams were scoreless, while in the English capital the Reds were 2-0 stronger than the home side.

Arsenal vs Liverpool Predicted XI:

Liverpool’s predicted line-up (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson; Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz.

Statistical preview of the match Arsenal vs Liverpool:

  • Arsenal have suffered only two defeats in 14 home games in England.
  • Arsenal have won nine of their last 11 EPL games.
  • Arsenal is on a 5-game winning streak.
  • Liverpool’s winning streak in the EPL now stands at eight games. The goal difference in this stretch is nothing short of impressive – 21-2.
  • Only Chelsea and Manchester City have managed to win at the Arsenal home ground this season. And on only three occasions the Gunners conceded more than one goal at the Emirates.
  • In the last four meetings, the Merseysiders have won three clear-cut games and drawn only once.
  • Moreover, they have suffered only three defeats and seven draws in all official competitions this season. The rest have been victories. The form is excellent.

What has been said before the match:

Mikel Arteta:

“Being able to beat the most in-form team in the country would be really, really big so that’s the aim tomorrow,”

“We haven’t done anything. What we are doing is try to improve, understand better what we want, being much more consistent in performance and results, but nothing else as yet.” Arteta said.

Jurgen Klopp:

“That’s the plan [to push City]. The plan is to be as annoying as possible. We have to win our games. It’s final after final after final that we play. We’re not ten points ahead with 10 to go. It’s in front of us – attack it, chase it, go for it. It’s the only chance we have.”

Arsenal vs Liverpool Prediction:

Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield in the first leg. A little later, the teams played two games in the English League Cup. The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw, while Klopp’s side claimed a 2-0 win in the return leg.

In other words, Arsenal have failed to score against Liverpool in their previous three games. Yes, it has to be said that playing against Arsenal as of late is no longer as easy as it was last season or at the beginning of this one, espesially at Emirates. The team will put up a very serious fight and will do everything to snatch at least one point.

In this case, however, we will give our preference for a Liverpool victory. The Reds approach this match with a killer instinct – they have a very important task ahead of them, to get close to a stumbled Manchester City, the fate of the Championship is at stake. The Merseysiders are the leading football force in the world at the moment and will not shaken even in such a difficult match.

Parimatch News staff prediction:

We say: Liverpool to win – Yes.
