The largest Dota event in history, The International 2022 is all set to take place in Southeast Asia for the first time. Fans are already feeling the excitement of the game’s biggest annual tournament.
The International 11 (TI11) is confirmed to take place from October 8th to 30th in Singapore. It is supposedly set out to be bigger and more competitive than ever before featuring four consecutive weekends of Dota action, and a total of 30 teams from all over the world.
According to Valve, in an effort to make the event and its broadcast as exciting and accessible as possible, the firm is experimenting with a slightly different schedule that includes more breaks and a greater build to Finals.
The International is the epitome of Dota 2 esports as it is historically known for shattering its previous record-breaking prize pool distribution. Apart from this, the event invites the world’s best teams to compete over an entire year for a chance to wield the prestigious Aegis of Champions.

Valve expands The International 2022 (TI11) to Multiple Phases
Valve announced through a blog post on the official Dota 2 website that TI11 was undergoing a radical transformation. The event that traditionally only featured 18 teams, will host 30 teams. The event will also host a 12-team Last Chance Qualifier LAN, which will take place just before the Group Stage of the tournament kicks off.
Essentially, The International 11 will take place in four phases:
- Last Chance Qualifiers: The qualifier featuring 12 teams will run from October 8-12. It will feature teams finishing in 2nd and 3rd place from all six TI11 regional qualifiers. The top two teams from this tournament will advance to the group stages of TI11.
- Group Stage: The group stage qualifier round will kick off from October 15 until Oct 18 where 20 teams battle each other to make it to the playoffs.
- Playoffs: The playoffs will be held at Suntec Singapore from October 20 to October 23, “where the field will narrow further”, according to Valve.
- The Finals: The finals will take place from October 29-30 at Singapore Indoor Stadium, where one team will emerge victorious to be crowned the champions of The International 11 and lift the Aegis of Champions.
Ticketing information for SunTec and Singapore Indoor Stadium will be released at a later date according to Valve.

Along with the information about The International 11, Valve confirmed that the new 7.31d Gameplay Update is under the works, along with the Dota Plus June update, which contains not only the traditional refresh but also a number of new features.
