Street Fighter 6: Confirmed and Leaked Roster
It’s difficult to ignore the big leak of Street Fighter 6 that surfaced earlier this month, which seemingly unveiled the game’s character roster. The Fighting Game Community received way more information than Capcom originally intended to share. After Street Fighter 6’s official trailer dropped in PlayStation’s State of Play showcase earlier this June, the lineup of the characters leaked online within a few hours.
The trailer for Street Fighter 6 gave us the first real look at what the game would look like, the features that can be expected, and several of the fighters in the starting roster. In its new Street Fighter 6 trailer, Capcom revealed two new fighters, Jaime and Kimberly, along with confirming the return of Chin-Li to the roster. These three characters would join Ryu and Luke, who were first shown in SF6’s teaser trailer earlier this year.
Easter eggs were sprouted throughout the rest of the video, confirming Cammy and Guile, amongst others. It seems like that was what Capcom had originally intended to reveal. Boy, were they in for a surprise!
Hours after the official gameplay trailer came out, artwork for 22 characters started doing the rounds on the internet. There was also leaked footage that showcased Ken in-game and a clip of Cammy (clad in her classic unitard) performing her ultra attack against another Cammy (clad in her new costume). The roster not only has the names of the fighters but also has complete character pictures of 22 different combatants.
Ultimately, there were way too many leaks, and Capcom was forced to confirm that these assets were legit. Capcom revealed they were moved by the overwhelmingly positive response from the fans. Gamers seem to be happy with the roster the studio has put together for this installment.
