Bangladesh’s recently named T20I captain Shakib al Hasan said on Saturday (August 20) that assuming anybody accepts the team’s fortunes can change in a little while then they are living in a silly situation.

The BCB named Shakib as their new skipper until the upcoming T20 World Cup with expectations of a circle back considering they are lingering a long way behind in the shortest format.

BCB also picked to include Sridharan Sriram as their specialized chief with the desire to see if his experience can assist Bangladesh in the upcoming international assignments that include Asia Cup and a tri-series for New Zealand including Pakistan.

The board has also said that they are intending to present split training from the following version of the Asia Cup. It will, accordingly, mark the finish of Russell Domingo’s time in Bangladesh as the all-formats head coach.

BCB high-ups are supposed to hold a gathering with Domingo in such a manner as the board isn’t persuaded by his methodology in T20Is.

Bangladesh has won just 19 out of 46 previous games, while in the last 11 T20Is, since the World Cup, they have acquired only two wins while one game was abandoned due to rain.

In actuality, however, Shakib didn’t sound altogether certain of this large number of moves but needed to guarantee no one remaining parts convinced, possibly by mistake, that any one factor can change the side’s T20s approach radically.

The all-rounder encouraged everyone to have patience and said that if they can perform well in the World Cup that trails closely behind the Asia Cup, it will demonstrate that they are to some extent doing great.

“I have no goals,”

Shakib told reporters in Dhaka.

“My only aim is that we can do well in the World Cup and these are the preparations for it.

“If someone thinks that I can change things within one or two days or someone else will come to change it, then we are living in a fool’s kingdom. If you can think practically, our true development will be seen when the team does well in the World Cup in three months.

“See, we first played this type of version (format) in 2006. Since then, we have not had good results, except in the Asia Cup final. We are far behind in this version from that point so we have no choice but to make a new start.

“When a baby starts walking [the first] steps are very difficult but gradually things become easier and I hope that we will also be able to start walking step by step like a baby and then move forward.”

Shakib said that he is not expecting Sriram, who is arriving tomorrow, to do miracles overnight.

“I don’t think there are many things to expect from him as he (Sriram) has been a part of a team like Australia for five years and our World Cup will also be in Australia so his experience will be helpful for us.

“It’s difficult to say how much change will come in this Asia Cup because there is very little time. But as I said, we all have responsibilities here, from the coaching staff to the support staff, BCB, fans, and even the journalists also. If we all can work together, then it seems to me that a new journey can start.”
