RCB will be sporting green Jersey against SunRisers Hyderabad on Sunday
Royal Challengers Bangalore will be sporting a green jersey as a part of their ‘Go Green’ initiative when they face off against SRH at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday while the franchise played their first game with the green jersey in the 2011 IPL season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will be sporting a green jersey as a part of their ‘Go Green’ initiative when they face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
‘Go Green’ initiative has been a huge part of RCB’s culture ever since it was started back in 2011. Through this action, it aims to spread awareness about the need for a cleaner and greener environment for future generations.
The franchise played their first-ever game with the green jersey back in the 2011 season of the IPL when they locked horns with now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
While chasing the 126, RCB won the game by nine wickets with the help of Tillakaratne Dilshan and Chris Gayle who played an outstanding inning.
In their recent game in Green Jersey back in 2020, CSK won by eight wickets chasing a total of 146 sets by RCB. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a match-winning knock for Chennai Super Kings.
“The ‘Go Green’ sustainability initiative has been a huge part of our RCB culture since 2011. Over the years we have seen RCB sport the green jersey in the day game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to create awareness around a greener and more sustainable planet Earth. Continuing the go green cause that we truly believe in RCB will be wearing the green match kits on the 8th of May when we take on Sunrisers Hyderabad,”
said senior batter Virat Kohli in a Bold Diaries video shared by the franchise on social media.
The color green has not been lucky for RCB historically. RCB has played nine games with this color and won only two games out of nine. This includes the win against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in their earlier mentioned 2011 game.
Their next victory would come in 2016 against Gujarat Lions, a match known for the memorable Virat-de Villiers outstanding knock, a 229 runs stand that powered RCB to 248/3 in 20 overs.
Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers both scored centuries each in the history of the Indian Premier League in that game. And bowled out the Gujarat Lions for 104 and won the game by 144 runs.
Coming to RCB and SRH, the former is at number four in the points tally with 12 points and the latter is the sixth with 10 points.
“This Sunday we take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad, we will be dressed in our green jersey to spread awareness about saving the planet,”
said skipper Faf du Plessis.
