The Indian team has a busy calendar lined up ahead

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced India’s upcoming home schedule in limited-overs cricket where they will be facing off against top teams Australia and South Africa in both 50-over and T20I cricket.

The Indian team, which is currently on the tour of West Indies, Will tour Zimbabwe in the later half of August for 3 ODIs and will subsequently travel to the United Arab Emirates to take part in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament which will be organised by Sri Lanka.

The Indian team will then be returning home some time in September to take on Australia in a three-match T20I series with the first game to be played on September 20 in Mohali, September 23 in Nagpur and September 25 in Hyderabad.

Following the conclusion of the series against Australia, India will be taking on South Africa in the first T20I of the three-match series on September 28 at Thiruvananthapuram, on October 2 in Guwahati and on October 4 in Indore.

India and South Africa will also play a three match one-day international series with the first game to be played in Lucknow on October 6, second ODI to be played in Ranchi on October 9 while the conclusion of the tour will take place in the national capital New Delhi on October 11 where the final ODI will be held.

It can be expected that the Indian cricketers will then get a short break before they will travel to Australia to take part in what will be an all-important ICC 2022 T20 World Cup — a tournament in which they will be expected to perform and last longer than they did last year in the UAE in the 2021 addition which was hosted by the BCCI itself.

With such a busy season coming up, the Indian selectors have done their best to keep a large pool of players ready and fit for national duty as per requirement.

For example, despite his long struggle to get runs and regain confidence, Virat Kohli has been rested along with India’s regular all format captain Rohit Sharma for the tour of Zimbabwe where Shikhar Dhawan will be captaining. These two big players are expected to be named in the squad for the Asia Cup 2022.
