India will face Australia in the semi-final of the U-19 World Cup

India produced an all-round performance on Friday to beat Bangladesh in the quarter-final clash of the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022, registering a five-wicket victory to set up their semi-final clash against Australia. On the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, India bowled out Bangladesh for a poor total of 111 from 37.1 overs and in their reply, scored 117/5 in 30.5 overs to record a comprehensive victory against that opponent who had beaten them in the final of the previous U-19 World Cup two years ago, in a controversy-hit contest.

Ravi Kumar, Vicky Ostwal, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shaik Rasheed were the star performers for India as they produced a dominating display with both the bat and the ball to crush the Bangladeshi resistance.

After electing to field, India took wickets at regular intervals to not allow Bangladeshi batsmen to flourish, with their No 7 batsman Meherob Hasan being the top-scorer with 30 runs for his side. Aich Mollah scored 17 from 48 balls whereas Ashiqur Zaman made 16.

Hasan batted well in his innings to hit six boundaries as he scored 30 from 48 balls, which was the only bright spot for the Bangladeshi side with the bat.

Ravi Kumar was the pick among the bowlers for India with a superb spell of 7-1-14-3 whereas Ostwal returned with the figures of 9-1-25-2. The other bowlers in Kushal Tambe and Raghuvanshi took one wicket each along with fast bowler Rajvardhan Hangargekar.

In the reply, India lost opening batsman Harnoor Singh for a three-ball duck but a strong association between Raghuvanshi and Rashid brought them back on track for a victory. Raghuvanshi top scored with 44 from 65 balls with the help of 7 boundaries Rashid hit 3 boundaries in his innings of 26, for which he consumed 59 balls.

India captain Yash Dhull, who returned to read the side after missing a few games due to coronavirus, remained unbeaten on 20 from 26 balls with the help of four boundaries in the company of Tambe, who remained undefeated on 11 from 18 balls with the help of one six.

For Bangladesh, Ripon Mondol was the pick of the bowlers as he delivered an impressive spell of 9-1-31-4 whereas Tandem Hasan Sakib took 1/34 from his 7 overs.
