Chennai Super Kings recorded their first win in five matches so far of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 tournament on Tuesday night

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally managed to end their four-match losing streak in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 tournament when they crushed the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by a margin of 23 runs in the Match No 23 played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday night.

After putting up a huge total of 216/4 batting first, powered by half-centuries from Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube, Chennai Super Kings bowlers did well to restrict the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore to 193/9 in their 20 overs.

Shivam Dube once again was the hero for Chennai Super Kings with the bat as the tall all-rounder, who is yet to make a mark for himself in the tournament with the ball,  scored a match-winning 95 from 46 balls with the help of as many as 8 sixes and 5 boundaries.

Shivam Dube was well supported by the senior Chennai Super Kings and former India opening batsman Robin Uthappa, who smacked 88 from just 50 balls with the help of a mind-boggling 9 sixes and 4 fours. Both the batsmen deserved their centuries on Tuesday night and were unfortunate to have missed out bring up their respective feats.

The defending champions of the ongoing IPL 2022 tournament, Chennai Super Kings were also bolstered with a stunning partnership between Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa, who both added 165 runs from only 74 balls to put their team in the driver’s seat of the contest against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

For the RCB side, playing his first match of the season, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood was the pick among the bowlers as he retuned with figures of 4-0-33-1 while their Sri Lankan cricketer Wanindu Hasaranga was still among wickets, returning with 2/35 from his 3 overs.

In their chase, the Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their main batsmen Faf du Plessis (8) and Virat Kohli (1) for cheap as they could never really found momentum at the start of the innings.

Shahbaz Ahmed top scored for RCB with 41, young player Suyash Prabhudessai made a fluent 34 whereas the senior wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik tried  to ignite a battle very late in the contest as he was strategically held back by the Bangalore-based team.

Dinesh Karthik tried his best but Chennai Super Kings had already out-batted the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who finished at the score of 193/9 in their 20 overs. Dinesh Karthik hit 3 sixes and 2 fours to make 34 from only 14 balls, whereas Prabhudessai was also impressive with his innings of 34, which came off 18 balls and included 5 fours and 1 six.

Chennai Super Kings will next be seen in action on Sunday, April 17 against Gujarat Titans whereas the Royal Challengers Bangalore will face-off with Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 16.
