Babar Azam eager to perform against England in the upcoming ODI series
Pakistan’s all-format skipper, Babar Azam is confident ahead of the three-match ODI and T20 series against England at Cardiff, starting from July 8.
Pakistan team has departed for England ahead of three-match ODI and T20 series against England at the venue of Cardiff, starting from July 8 till July 20.
“We performed well on South Africa tour and will try to continue that momentum in England as well. England is one of the best teams in ODI cricket but Pakistan has always given them a tough time. Pakistan has a good record in England because pitches are good and suit our playing style,”
said Babar Azam while speaking on the PCB Podcast.
Babar is also hopeful that the addition of Haris Sohail and Saud Shakeel at the middle order will strengthen up Pakistan’s batting.
“Pakistan has a settled combination in ODI cricket, there are just one or two changes in the squad. We are struggling a bit in the middle-order but I’m hopeful that Haris Sohail and Saud Shakeel’s inclusion will help us in this regard,”
he said.
The 26-year-old opened about the tenure of his captaincy and also praised his teammates. He looks very optimistic ahead of the series.
“I’m enjoying responsibility as a captain across all three formats as it is an honor for me. I try to keep calm under pressure and plan what could be better for the team. Captaincy isn’t very challenging as teammates cooperate and back me. They try to ensure that there is no pressure on me and carry out the roles given to them,”
he concluded.
