Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan has been added to Wisden’s Current World Test XI ahead of the Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant because he can play well in different situations.
Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan has been added to Wisden’s current World’s playing XI squad due to his outstanding performance in the test games.
The squad was selected by the managing editor of Wisden Ben Gardner, Wisden displayed writer Taha Hashim, and Wisden Indian editor, Aadya Sharma.
“The aim was to create a team that would be successful anywhere in the world, and it was up to the panel to decide on the balance of the side, as well as the batting order,”
Wisden stated.
Rizwan has played only 17 tests for Pakistan and scores runs at an average of 41.5. He also hits six fifties and a one century.
“I picked Mohammad Rizwan because you can just rely on him in any situation. He’ll score whatever type of runs you need and he’s very good technically,”
wrote Ben Gardner.
Wisden chooses Rizwan ahead of Rishabh Pant because Rizwan is performing very consistently and he can play in a different kind of situation and score all types of runs.
“It’s Rizwan for me. Rishabh Pant is a great batsman but the only thing that comes with him is that doubt over his consistency. Rizwan has great technique and could do well across conditions, across attacks,”
wrote Aadya Sharma.
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has been nominated as the skipper of the side while England’s Joe Root and Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne have also been added to Wisden’s current World test XI.
