Former India cricketer and one of the leading wicket takers for the country, Harbhajan Singh has joined his new Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 2021 edition of the T20 cricket league which begins on April 9.

The maverick right-arm spinner has played in the past for IPL winning teams Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Harbhajan Singh had opted out of the 2020 edition of IPL going to the coronavirus pandemic but cited personal reasons, and he was released by the Chennai Super Kings as they went into overhauling of the squad.

The former Indian spinner was purchased by two-time IPL winning side KKR by his or his base price of INR 2 crores in the IPL 2021 auction held earlier this year.

The ace spinner has joined plenty of other KKR players at the team hotel to serve a mandatory week-long quarantine period following which they will start their preparations for the IPL 2021 tournament.

In the meantime, some of the other KKR players and mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty, young fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti, newcomer Vaibhav Arora, Sandeep Warrier and aggressive batsmen Rahul Tripathi have started training under the KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and Omkar Salvi.

Kolkata Knight Riders, like the other IPL teams, will not be playing at your home ground in Eden Gardens and will be starting their IPL 2021 campaign at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai against IPL 2016 winners winners Sunrisers Hyderabad.
