Two of SC East Bengal’s players Gurtej Singh and Rafique Ali Sardar have joined Mohammedan SC from SC East Bengal on loan until the end of the ongoing Indian football season.

The 30-year old central defender hailing from Punjab has signed for the I-League club Mohammedan SC after not even getting a look into the SC East Bengal first team during the ongoing 2020-21 ISL season.

Singh has been part of squads that played in the AFC Cup like Churchill Brothers and Bengaluru FC before making a switch to the Indian Super League. Gurtej was a part of the now-defunct FC Pune City squad for two consecutive seasons and then represented Hyderabad FC in their initial season in the ISL.

East Bengal snapped him up ahead of their maiden season in the ISL but head coach Robbie Fowler didn’t have to look beyond his first-choice options of Scott Neville, Danny Fox, Sehnaj Singh, Raju Gaikwad, and Rana Gharami.

Md. Rafique Ali Sardar has also signed on loan for Mohammedan SC from SC East Bengal and the 22-year old goalkeeper has also switched between the two Kolkata giants. The youngster was a part of the Jamshedpur FC squad between 2018 and 2020 and made 4 ISL appearances for the Jamshedpur-based side.

The goalkeeper made his debut for the Kolkata giants on Tuesday in a 2-2 draw against TRAU and Gurtej Singh was also introduced from the bench for the last half an hour of the match.
