The fourth matchday of the Serie A 2022-23 season saw Atalanta paving their way to the topmost position of the league standings. Meanwhile, the two Milan city counterparts also had a build-up for the Derby Della Madonna encounter which will take place on the upcoming matchday.

Internazionale has staged a throbbing bounce-back after suffering their first defeat of the season against Lazio on the third matchday. The deadlock of the scoreline was broken by the Argentine forward Joaquin Correa who bagged his second individual goal for his new employer. Then a 38th-minute thunderous volley from midfielder Nicolo Barella with the assistance of Hakan Calhanoglu doubled Inter’s lead before half-time. 

The Milan Blues continued their on-field dominance in the second half too as Lautaro Martinez got himself on the scoresheet while Barella brought up his second goal contribution of the match. The visitors from the city of Cremona pulled one goal back in the final minutes through the Nigerian forward David Okereke’s stunning curly strike. This home triumph will boost the confidence of Inter roster for the Milan Derby clash which went downhill after their catastrophic defeat against Lazio.

Jose Mourinho’s Roma is on the triumphant run as they earlier held Juventus side for a 1-1 draw at Allianz Stadium and now proceeds to claim all three match-points. A 3-0 outcome at Stadio Olimpico has now taken the Giallorossi side right to the second position in the Serie A league standings. 

Paulo ‘La Joya’ Dybala’s two first-half goals and the Brazilian midfielder Roger Ibanez’s 61st-minute strike had a lion’s share in the thumping victory of the Capital-based club.  

Empoli 1-1 Hellas Verona

Both Italian combatants squashed each other in search of their first win of the season but will have to wait furthermore to enjoy the taste of victory. An opening breakthrough from the Italian teenage sensation Tommaso Baldanzi brought the home team to the driving seat at Stadio Carlo Castellani. However, the tiny lead of Gli Azzurri was demolished by the 69th-minute strike from substitute midfielder Yayah Kallon. 

Sampdoria 1-1 Lazio

Udinese has now overtaken the Fiorentina side in the Scudetto race after edging past them on a 1-0 scoreline at Dacia Arena. The Florence-based club which previously held Napoli for a goalless settlement at home ended up on the losing side for the first time this season. 

The Friulians attained the critical three match-points owing to the 1-0 lead which was gained in the 17th minute through the striker Beto and remained unsullied until the final whistle.

Day by day and game by game, Juventus is gradually climbing the mountain of the 2022-23 Serie A with a steady approach. After dropping the match points in their both previous fixtures, the Bianconeri side is finally back on the trot with a win. The White Eagles couldn’t stand upfront the wrath of the Turin-based club and failed to put up even a single shot on target. 

The Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic who scored the opening goal of the game in the 9th minute is now currently leading the individual goal-scoring charts having scored four goals from four appearances. Then the Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik went on to score the following goal which was also his first in the Juve colours. The Old Lady will be travelling to the city of Florence to take on the Viola side and avenge the previous season’s defeat at the hands of familiar foes. 

Napoli 1-1 Lecce

A back-to-back draw for Napoli has forced them to vacate their crown of league leaders. After denying an early penalty attempt of Lecce, a 27th-minute goal from the Macedonian youngster Elif Elmas broke the 117-minute long goalless run of the Perthenopeans who scored a whopping total of nine goals in their first two fixtures. 

However, the newly promoted Giallorossi side delivered a befitting reply after scoring the equalising goal just four minutes after conceding the one. 

Atalanta 3-1 Torino

The underdogs from the land of Bergamo have made their way to the pole position in the current Serie A standings. The points table equation asked them to win this contest with a two or more goals margin and the Black and Blues did exactly the same. 

The Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners who bagged a hat-trick consisting of a pair of penalties was the chief architect of their triumph over the Maroon Bulls. 

Bologna 1-1 Salernitana 

The fourth matchday action of Serie A ended with another match-points settlement which resulted in a 1-1 scoreline. A penalty strike from the Austrian veteran Marko Arnautovic gave a ray of hope for the home fans that their Greyhounds are determined to register the first win of the season. However, a late equaliser from the Senegalese striker Boulaye Dia in the 88th minute turned out to be the party spoiler.
