Arsenal will host Fulham in the English Premier League fourth-tour match at the Emirates Stadium. The fixture will take place on August 27, beginning at 22:00 IST.

Another London derby awaits us this weekend, certainly a special one as both teams remain unbeaten at the start of the season. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal take on Mark Silva’s Fulham. The Gunners will try to extend their winning streak and cement their top spot, while the newly arrived Cottagers will try to repeat their triumph against Liverpool and stun againt the team of the much higher class.

Parimatchnews will tell you everything you need to know ahead of the upcoming match.

Arsenal News & Current Form:

The immense frustration that the Gunners felt at the end of last season over losing their place in the UEFA Champions League zone seems to have been forgotten. Mikel Arteta’s team are now pushing forward without a backward glance. And there is the impression that Arsenal are ready to aim for more than a top-four spot this season. At the very least, the Cannoneers are the sole EPL leaders right now, with the calendar of their upcoming matches only serving to solidify the position.

Right now, the Red&Whites are clearly outstanding, not only in terms of results, but also in terms of play. Don’t be fooled by the fact that the Londoners have not had strong opponents so far; the English Premier League is very competitive and every game here is a real challenge (the first three rounds have already proved it clearly, one may recall the unexpected points loss by Liverpool and Man City). So far, Arsenal have confidently conquered Crystal Palace (2-0), Leicester City (4-2) and Bournemouth (3-0).

In essense, this is a crucial year for the current Arsenal project, and so far Arteta’s team gained a great momentum, being full of confidence. Exactly by this season it is worth assessing the viability of the management, the players and the coach. So far, all indicators show us a positive trend: and the impeccable transfer policy of the last two years plays a very important role here. By the end of the summer transfer window, it would be fair to say that this is a fully refreshed and rethought squad.

Arsenal are scoring consistently and abundantly, only reigning champions Manchester City can now match them in terms of goalproducing. Moreover, no-one in the league has allowed fewer shots on target than the Gunners. All lines seem to be perfectly balanced now, they can add even more quality in case of some additional signings (right winger, for example).

Having repeated their best start to the season since Arsene Wenger, the Londoners have given the fans a very glowing hope that, literally, the team is about to become the ‘new Liverpool’. And many facts tell us that fans’ aspirations are by no means groundless. Arsenal would be hopeful of winning the match and consolidating their lead.

Fulham News & Current Form:

Although the Cottagers look a more dangerous opponent than the Foxes or the Cherries on paper so far, they cannot really be described as a serious challenge for Arsenal. Fulham have just returned to the elite of English football, and the balance of Marco Silva’s team is still seriously lacking. There is a clear bias towards the attack to the detriment of the defence: the visitors consistently score a lot, but they also concede regularly. In essence, they are trying to play the same football as in the Championship. Moreover, the Cottagers have never won at the Emirates and have only managed to snatch a point from their opponents six times in their 27 EPL games at this stadium.

However, no one is going to underestimate the Whites&Blacks these days either. The visitors remain unbeaten, while their calendar hasn’t been easy. They had a real chance to beat formidable Liverpool (2-2), before missing some luck against Wolverhampton FC side that saved themselves thanks to the panalty save by José Sá. Afther that, the Londoners, finally achieved the A+ result beating Brentford (3-2) (quite a capable side that recently thrashed Man Utd 4-0).

However, Fulham’s recent play in the League Cup against Crawley Town showed, that perhaps things are not as rosy as they seem. Although this result (2-0) can be put down to the fact that the coach decided to give the youngsters a chance and used the minimum of core players.

Fulham have a truly monstrous attack led by Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Serbian was on fire in Championship last season, scoring 43 goals and assisting seven in 44 games. The 27-year-old forward remains consistent in the EPL as well –  three goals in three matches. The Cottagers have a good chance of scoring against Arsenal as well, as they have scored at least one goal in 9 of their last 12 head-to-head games.

  • Arsenal have scored and conceded in each of their last 5 Premier League home games.

What has been said before the match:

Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal gaffer:

“The mood is really good, and the energy is really good. The boys have trained exceptionally well this week again, and we just have to put in another good performance and earn the right to win.”

“We expect a really tough match. They’ve been on an incredible run – last year in the Championship they did extremely well, and they haven’t lost a game yet in the Premier League and they’ve played against three very difficult opponents, so credit to them. I think it will be a difficult game.”

Marco Silva, the Fulham gaffer:

“They are confident, they are playing well, they are creating great dynamics inside the pitch as well, and of course they will be a tough team to play against.”

“Some players have come in and they’ve added something different for them as well. Gabriel Jesus is a good example, the central defender [William Saliba] is a good example as well, and they’ve added something important for them. They have a lot of individual quality”

“They are in a good moment, it will be tough for us, but we are in a good moment as well. Of course you want to go there to match them, to challenge them, to embrace the challenge that will definitely be a tough challenge for us, but we want to play the game and to match them.”

Arsenal vs Fulham Prediction:

Fulham have been able to break out of the Championship thanks to their impressive performance up front. Having advanced to a higher level, the team has retained their commitment to attacking play. The only problem is that the standard of the Premier League is much higher and it will now be much more difficult to mitigate deficiencies. The weak link of the Cottagers is exatle their defence – with five goals conceded in three games as of now.

Arsenal, in turn, are now noticeably stronger – they have no injuries and their game is well-organised. Moreover, Silva is unlikely to surprise Arteta with any trickery. For sure, after the Liverpool game, the Arsenal coaching staff and analytics department have studied the patterns and tactics of the Cottagers in detail. This will allow the Gunners to avoid surprises and approach the game as much alert as possible.

Fulham are capable of scoring, but Arsenal play at home and here they are very convincing (picked 41 of 69 points last season). Arteta and his lads need to take advantage of an easy calendar to score as many points as possible. The calibre of the teams is different after all, so we assume a win for Arsenal.
