Will Sunrisers Hyderabad be able to bounce back after four consecutive losses in the IPL?

Sunrisers Hyderabad have slipped to the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table

These are still relatively early days in the Indian Premier League 2025 but we possibly have a team which is looking at an early exit unless it does not arrest its shocking slide after losing four out of the first five matches played so far.

At one stage in the tournament, which included a large part of the previous edition of the Indian Premier League as well, Sunrisers Hyderabad appeared to be setting a template with which T20 cricket should be played, which was exciting, daring, fearless, as well as new in terms of how teams were playing this format.

But suddenly, the wheels seem to be coming off the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wagon as they have lost four matches on the trot in the IPL 2025.

Each of these defeats had a common factor which was their batsmen failing to fire in union and the team was lacking the determination to fight out challenging phases when they were pushed against the wall.

Sunrisers Hyderabad began IPL 2025 with a compelling victory against Rajasthan by 44 runs in which they had scored 286 runs batting first, indicating that the dream score of 300 could finally be breached in this season of the world’s biggest T20 competition.

There were no doubts that Sunrisers Hyderabad were, and in fact, are the only team which can achieve this record, but they have been failing far too much for anyone’s liking, and this is now threatening to throw them out of the competition to make the IPL 2025 playoffs.

It must be remembered that only four teams make it to the knockout round of IPL and six get left behind for not having enough victories, resulting in enough points as well as in it, which would help them to compete with the others.

Sunrisers Hyderabad not only have just two points from five matches, but they also have a poor net run rate which needs to be improved in case they have to have a shot at the final four.

The string of defeats have largely been because Sunrisers Hyderabad have not been able to find a solution to their problems, find other alternatives in form of team composition and combination as well as sticking to only one style of.

Experts have opined that Sunrisers bowlers have also been very defensive and not looking to attack, which has been a negative approach and if that is true, it is going to create further trouble for a team which is led by World Cup winning Australia captain Pat Cummins.

It is still not the end for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but they are being pushed to the brink and they will have to find their way back into the contest through victories. In the past, Mumbai Indians started IPL seasons with a few defeats before finding their form and rhythm to stitch up a number of victories together and have in fact gone on to win the IPL title as well.

Sunrisers Hyderabad or not the only side, apparently which is this issue as along with them at the bottom of the table is Chennai Super Kings, who have three defeats from their four matches and only two points in their kitty.

Chennai Super Kings are also struggling with their team combination, the form of their top place as well as lacking alternative plans when their primary ones are not working.

It is not an ideal scenario for a team to be in, but teams will also have to be nimble in terms of meeting the challenges that they are facing on the go and they can be of any size and any kind.

They may also have their top players struggling for form and the others unable to carry the burden, but then every single squad has plenty of strength in terms of players available, and it is just about trying out what they can in terms of their own solutions.

Only last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad played incredible cricket to make it to the final of the IPL and the 2016 winners still have a very good site at their disposal to turn around their fortunes and deliver the goods. Perhaps to do that, SRH will have to be patient as well as disciplined in terms of what they want to do.
