Bangladesh opener, Liton Das has opted to quit the T20I home series against Australia for personal reasons. Bangladesh CEO, Akram Khan confirmed on Monday.

Bangladesh opening batsman Liton Das will miss the T20 series against Australia due to his reasons, confirmed by Bangladesh cricket board operating chairman, Akram Khan.

The series between Bangladesh and Australia will start on August 3 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Before this series, the Bangladesh team had to face a couple of injury gusts.

Mustafizur Rahman is also facing an ankle injury on a tour match which kept him away from the action. Due to his injury, he just played one ODI and T20 against Zimbabwe.

Soumya Sarkar is also working to recover his injury whereas Shakib al Hasan is also dealing with a long-standing groin injury.

Mushfiqur Rahim also won’t take part in the home series against Australia due to his sick parents. Meanwhile, Tamim Iqbal also suffered a knee injury and he was not available for the series.

Liton Das has also missed the last two T20 against Zimbabwe due to a thigh injury and now this time against Australia he will miss the series because one of his family members is sick.

Due to an emergency, he returned home.

“Liton is expected to return home soon as he wants to be there for the family member who is sick. He was not available for the opening two T20s and we cannot say anything if someone says that he wants to be with his ailing family members,”

Akram revealed on Monday.

Bangladesh is now in a very critical situation because a lot of its main players are injured and they need to prepare themselves for the T20I’s as ICC men’s T20 World Cup is just around the corner.

The five-match T20 series between Bangladesh and Australia will start in August. Australia is currently touring the away series in West Indies and Bangladesh is staying in Zimbabwe. Both teams are expected to arrive in Dhaka on July 29.

“Liton and Mustafizur should be available from the second or third game. We are not too worried about them. They will be back. Overall, we are confident about the squad. We have just won a T20 series [away against Zimbabwe].”
