Pakistan right-arm Pacer Hassan Ali has been rested in the white ball home series against West Indies while Sarfraz Ahmad who didn’t play enough for Pakistan for the last two years, also dropped out from the squad in the home series.

The most three experienced players in the Pakistan team have been dropped for the upcoming T20 series against West Indies.

The Pakistan Cricket Board selectors had also rested right-arm pacer Hassan Ali and included Mohammad Hasnain in the squad, announced on Thursday.

Sarfaraz Ahmad who was part of the squad in the recent T20 World Cup didn’t get a chance to play in the tournament but after the recent series against Bangladesh he played one game but didn’t score very well and he could only manage to score 6 runs.

For more than two years, he didn’t play enough games for the national side. However, Shoaib Malik played an outstanding role in the middle-order in the T20 WC but in the series against Bangladesh, he was dismissed for a duck in the first game.

“As we have been playing T20Is since October and now have a pretty settled and balanced side, we have decided to reduce the number of players to 15. As such, we have not included Imad Wasim, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Shoaib Malik,”

chief selector Muhammad Wasim said.

“In consultation with Hasan Ali and taking into consideration that he has been playing non-stop cricket since returning from a back injury, we have decided to give him time off from this series,”

he added.

T20I Squad: Babar Azam (C), Shadab Khan (VC), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (Wk), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani, Usman Qadir

However, Hassan Ali also doesn’t part of the squad in the home ODI series against West Indies.  On the other side, Sarfraz also doesn’t get a chance in the ODI squad.

Along with the duo, Faheem Ashraf and Salman Ali, who were part of the squad in the series against England, have been dropped. In turn, the selectors have added Asif Ali, Khushdil Shah, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmad, and Mohammad Wasim Jr for the ODI series against West Indies.

“For the ODIs, which we last played in July, we have accepted the team management’s request and provided them two additional resources,”

Wasim said.

All the white-ball games will be played in the National Stadium in Karachi from 13 to 22.

ODI Squad: Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Mohammad Hasnain, Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani Usman Qadir
