Fakhar Zaman’s quick-fire 66 sets Lahore Qalandars for a 29 runs victory over PZ

Lahore Qalandars won the match by 29 runs with the help of Fakhar Zaman who scored 66 runs with six fours and three sixes during his 38 ball knock and helped Lahore Qalandars to win the match.

Peshawar Zalmi had won the toss and elected to field first. Qalandars started the innings very well. Both their openers continue hitting several fine boundaries and were in good form. Fakhar Zaman was the one who went after the bowlers, scoring 26 of his first 13 balls after four overs. 

Lahore Qalandars won the match by 29 runs with the help of Fakhar Zaman who scored 66 runs with six fours and three sixes during his 38 ball knock and helped Lahore Qalandars to win the match.

After the end of the first power play, Qalandars went on 61-0. Both the openers were set up by an aggressive 94-run partnership. At least one boundary was hit every over then Usman Qadir took Shafique’s wicket in the tenth over of the innings and provide a great breakthrough for Peshawar Zalmi.

In the 13th over, Talat came to bowl and picked a great wicket, and sent out the Fakhar to the pavilion. Then, Ghulam and Hafeez try to put some runs on the board. At the last moment of the innings, Irshad picked two wickets for Zalmi while Rashid Khan hits two sixes in the last over. 

Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Ghulam, and Rashid Khan combined to provide the finishing touches to Qalandars innings. Lahore Qalandars set a total of 199-4 after 20 overs.

Peshawar Zalmi didn’t start the innings very well and lost their first wicket on the third ball of the first over. After that, Kamran Akmal hits some good boundaries to Rashid in his first over and tries to put some pressure on the Qalandar bowlers. 

After the first power play, Zalmi scored a 48-1.  Akmal and Hussain added 62 as Akmal went for the boundaries while Talat struggle to get going. But Zaman Khan got them both off back-to-back balls in the ninth over, first having Talat caught at deep midwicket before getting Akmal to chop on to his stumps.

Then, Peshawar batters look rusty against the Qalandar bowlers and continuously lose the wickets. Haider Ali try to overcome the situation but no one could stand with him on the other end. In the last over, David Wiese nearly had a hat-trick for Qalandars with DRS reversing the umpires initial out a verdict.

Peshawar Zalmi could only manage to score 170 and Lahore won by 29 runs.

Lahore Qalandars 199 for 4 (Fakhar 66, Shafique 41, Irshad 2-47) beat Peshawar Zalmi 170 for 9 (Haider 49, Akmal 41, Zaman 3-32) by 29 runs.
