Christopher James Jordan is a Barbados-born British cricketer. He is a fast bowler on the right arm and a batsman with a late order on the right arm. He plays domestic cricket for Sussex County Cricket Club and has played for the England cricket team, mostly in the shorter formats of the game.
Jordan was born in Barbados. His maternal grandparents are British citizens. Jordan was educated at Combermere School in Bridgetown. He then received a sports scholarship to complete his formal education at Dulwich College in England.
Jordan made his Surrey debut against Middlesex at Lord’s in August 2007. He took 2-41 in his first-grade debut, and in his second game against Durham, he helped put the hosts away by taking 3-42. He won the 2007 NBC Dennis Compton Award as Surrey’s most promising young player.
After suffering a back stress fracture, Jordan was unable to play in the 2010 English cricket season. He resumed training in December of that year. Jordan was released by Surrey at the end of the 2012 season after six years with the county. He returned to Barbados to play in his second winter season for the national cricket team and then joined Sussex in England’s 2013 season, taking a 6-48 lead in the championship in his debut against Yorkshire.
Chris Jordan qualified to play for both the West Indies and England, he chose to play for England. He made his debut against Australia in September 2013 and took part in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford on May 28, 2014, scoring 5 for 29 to help England win by 10.
Jordan was named in the England Test team for the series against Sri Lanka before making his first Test debut.
He was also named in the 3rd, 4th and 5th Test matches of the 2014 India tour of England.
He was selected by the defending champion Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2017 Indian Premier League in February 2017. Chris managed to play only one match against Kolkata Knight Riders in qualifying. He was bought by Kings XI Punjab in the 2020 IPL auction ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League Championship.
