Biography

Amit Mishra is an Indian cricketer who represents the country at the international level and has played 68 matches for the Indian team across all formats. At the domestic level, he plays for Haryana. Mishra is an attacking right-arm leg break bowler and keeps the potential to surprise batsman with his orthodox googly.

He made his first-class debut in the 2000-01 season. After being ignored by Delhi, Mishra secured his place in the Haryana team, which needed a leg-spinner at that time. He started his journey as a batsman, but his talent for turning the ball was honed by his mentor Sanjay Bhardwaj.

Amit played his first ODI match on 13 April 2003 vs. South Africa in the TVS Cup at Dhaka. He picked a wicket in the match, which was won by India by 153 runs. He rose swiftly after the retirement of Anil Kumble and played as a regular player in the Indian team in 2011. Amit impressed everyone by becoming the highest wicket-taker with 18 wickets in the ODI series against Zimbabwe in July 2013.

He is also the first in the Indian Premier League history to take three hat-tricks. His Zimbabwe performance in 2013 is equal to Javagal Srinath’s world record of most wickets in an ODI series.
