A bout between top flyweights Matt Schnell and Tyson Nam is scheduled on December 19. The contest will take place at UFC Fight Night 186 in Las Vegas.

Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev will head UFC Fight Night 186

Schnell and Nam had to meet inside the octagon in September at UFC Fight Night: Covington vs. Woodley. But the clash was cancelled after Schnell had withdrawn due to health problems. Jerome Rivera replaced Danger on short notice and lost by TKO in the second round. Nam moved up to the 14th place in the flyweight rankings and agreed to face Matt who took 10th spot.

Matt has an advantage in striking and grappling. He lands 5% more shots and absorbs 33% less blows. Schnell makes 0.64 takedown and 1.6 submission attempts per 15 minutes, while Nam has never initiated wrestling exchanges in UFC bouts. However, Tyson has opened as a slight favorite because he is a more experienced mixed martial artist.

UFC Fight Night 186 will be headlined by a welterweight contest between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev. Edwards was recently taken off the UFC welterweight rankings due to inactivity and challenged Khamzat. Borz quickly accepted the callout on Twitter saying that he was always ready to fight.

Chimaev made his debut in the UFC in July 2020 and defeated 3 opponents setting a record for the fastest 3-fight win streak. A victory over Leon, who has been ranked third at welterweight, will cement Khamzat’s contender status. Reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman was supposed to defend the title against Gilbert Burns at UFC 256, but the fight was called off as Nigerian Nightmare needed more time to prepare. UFC matchmakers have not announced a new date for the event yet. But, according to rumors, Usman vs Burns will be held in January or February 2021.
