UFC matchmakers announced a bout between top contestants in the bantamweight division Marlon Moraes and Rob Font. The showdown will take place at UFC Fight Night 186 on December 19.

Moraes eyeing a title fight against Yan vs Sterling winner

Moraes lost by TKO to Cory Sandhagen on October 10, therefore his quick return to the octagon was surprising. Marlon took a heavy spinning wheel kick in a bout against Cory but avoided injuries. In a post-fight interview, Marlon said that referee Mark Goddard had stopped the action too early. Nevertheless, he accepted defeat and congratulated The Sandman with the victory. Magic is eager to get back inside the cage and looking forward to becoming the main contender.

Font has a two-fight winning streak and is ranked eleventh at bantamweight. In his last clash, Rob defeated Ricky Simon by unanimous decision plus pocketed a bonus for the best contest. However, he has not fought for eleven months and dropped out of the championship race. But the situation may change with a bang. If Font beats Marlon, he will move to the third place in the bantamweight rating and become the number one contender.

Reigning champion Petr Yan is set to fight Aljamain Sterling at UFC 256 on December 12. The winner will likely take on Sandhagen who is currently ranked second. Another bantamweight star Cody Garbrandt decided to drop down to the 125-pound division. Cody expressed interest in challenging flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo. Given these facts, the winner of Moraes vs Font has a great chance to get a title shot.
