Former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade will get a title shot in the flyweight division against Valentina Shevchenko, one of the most dominant champs in women’s MMA history.

Andrade got ahead of Maia and Calvillo in flyweight rankings

After suffering two losses at strawweight, Andrade went up to 125 pounds and faced Katlyn Chookagian at UFC Fight Night 180 last Sunday. Andrade won by TKO in the first round and earned a bonus for the best performance. Chookagian had been ranked first at flyweight. Therefore, Bate Estaca topped the updated rating and became the number one contender. Moreover, Andrade has moved up one spot in the P4P rankings and is currently fifth.

Shevchenko won the vacant UFC flyweight title in 2018 and defended the belt three times. Bullet is on a five-fight winning streak – the most consecutive victories in the division. Amanda Nunes was the only fighter who could defeat Valentina since 2011. However, Shevchenko takes third place in the women’s P4P rankings after Nunes and strawweight champion Weili Zhang.

Shevchenko vs Andrade has not been officially announced yet. But Jessica is the most likely title contender. Bullet has already beat Katlyn Chookagian who is ranked second. Jennifer Maia and Cynthia Calvillo must fight at least one more time to face the reigning champ. Therefore, the most logical step for matchmakers would be to set up Shevchenko vs Andrade and Maia vs Calvillo. In this case, the winner of the second pair would contest for the flyweight title.
