French Open organizers announced five players to be removed from the qualifying tournament following two players, along with a coach, after they tested positive for coronavirus.

However, they did not reveal the player names that have been pulled out. But the sports daily Lquipe site named the coach and one of the players as Damir Dzumhur.

The directors of the Roland Garros tournament confirmed that two players in the qualifying tournament have tested COVID-19 positive, and three others have confirmed close contact with a coach.

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) said:

“As per the strict health protocols of the qualifying tournament, no positive tested player will compete in the qualifiers starting Monday. We advise them to self-isolate for a minimum of seven days. Around 900 Coronavirus tests have been conducted since September 17, 2020.”

Damir Dzumhur said:

“He had been removed because his coach Petar Popović had got a positive test. Petar Popovic failed to get an opportunity to do a second test. Our team is sure he was false positive because the coach has antibodies.”

French Tennis Federation said they would permit 5,000 spectators on a daily basis to avoid the risk of COVID-19 cases.
