After all the delay last year due to Coronavirus and the rescheduled season, finally, the beloved English Premier League is back on September 12th. Last year, it was a cakewalk for Liverpool as they ended a 30-year drought to win their first Premier League trophy. Its been a long time for them, but it was well worth the wait.

The previous season ended on July 26, and the League is now back in less than two months. This surely is a treat for us football fans. Liverpool will be aiming to defend their crown, but it won’t be easy at all. The contenders are lining up, and although Liverpool have been relatively quiet in the transfer window, their rivals are closing down major deals.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea have done some fantastic business in the transfer market and already look much stronger than last season. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Wolves, Everton, and Leicester are also not backing down and actively improving their squad strength.

Manchester City, under top-level coach Pep Guardiola, will want to bounce back because of the fashion in which they lost the Premier League title last year. After winning back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019, Manchester City finished 18 points behind eventual champions, Liverpool. Add in the Champions League heartbreak against Lyon, and Man City will be hungry to show their mettle.

September is a weird time for the season to start, but in 2020, we should be ready for almost anything. With excitement levels at an all-time high, clubs have started training and preparing in full flow. The whole world wants to see new signings grace the Premier League and put on a show. What everyone wants is another thrilling and competitive race for the title that goes down to the wire.
