SC East Bengal sign Narayan Das

Indian Super League

Indian Super League’s newest club SC East Bengal has signed Indian international left-back Narayan Das.

Having played for East Bengal in the I-League in the 2015-16 and the 2017 season of the coveted tournament, Das knows what it means to play for one of the oldest clubs in Asia.

“Having donned the Red and Gold colours before, I know what it feels to play for SC East Bengal. I am over the moon to sign for this club which is 100 years old. I have grown up watching SC East Bengal play and I cannot wait to take the field and put my best foot forward.”

Till now, Das has been a part of every ISL season since the league’s inception, representing FC Goa for the 2014, 2015, and the 2017-18 season. He spent a solitary season at the now-defunct FC Pune City in 2016.

In the last couple of seasons, the 27-year old represented Delhi Dynamos which was relocated and renamed as Odisha FC before the start of the 2019-20 season.

The left-back has 29 senior international caps against his name and also scored a goal against Puerto Rico in 2016 contributing to a 4-1 win.

SC East Bengal getting ready for inaugural ISL season

Every club has been ramping up their preparations for the 2020-21 season of the ISL as the commencement of the league only a month away.

The Reds and the Golds entry into the league got confirmed in the last week of September and the Kolkata giants have tried their best to sign the players still available on the market.

After roping in their first couple of signings in Anthony Pilkington and Aaron Holloway, the club signed the former Chennaiyin FC striker Jeje Lalpekhlua. They have followed it up with signings of big names like English defender Danny Fox and German midfield engine Matti Steinmann.

The signing of Narayan Das doesn’t look likely to be the last with a big goalkeeper signing and another foreign midfield signing expected to be announced very soon.
