Mumbai City FC has signed the ferocious striker Bartholomew Ogbeche on a year-long loan deal for the 2020-21 ISL season.

Ogbeche is glad to join Mumbai City FC and spoke heartily about the same.

“I’m very happy and excited to be here at Mumbai City. Besides the brilliant mix of youth and experience in our team, the apparent quality and level of the squad speaks volumes about the ambitions we have here at the club.”

The 36-year old spoke very positively about Sergio Lobera and his teams’ style of football.

“In my two years in the ISL, I’ve come up a fair few times against Sergio Lobera’s team, and our Coach’s positive and free-flowing brand of football perfectly fits my style and idea of the game as well. I can’t wait to get started as I look forward to a great season with my new family.”

The Nigerian centre-forward was brought to the Indian Super League by NorthEast United and the striker helped the club qualify for the playoff stages for the first time in the club’s history with 12 goals in 18 matches.

Ogbeche was stolen away by Kerala Blasters ahead of the 2019-20 season and the 36-year old delivered for the popular club as he hit 15 goals in 16 matches, the joint-most in the league.

Preparations for the 2020-21 ISL season

After missing out on a playoff spot in the 2019-20 season of the Indian Super League, the club is aiming to be back to winning ways with their new manager and the new signings brought in by him. Former FC Goa manager Sergio Lobera will be taking charge of the club in the upcoming season.

The Islanders had already roped in the likes of Adam le Fondre and Hugo Boumous thus making up one of the most fearful attacking trios in the league.

Lobera has also brought the likes of Mourtada Fall, Mandar Rao Dessai, Ahmed Jahouh to add to the star names of Amrinder Singh, Raynier Fernandes, and Rowlin Borges.
