After releasing several players ahead of the 2023-24 Indian Super League season, the Tuskers have finally bolstered their squad with the signing of full-back Prabir Das who has represented ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru in the last two ISL seasons.

The defender joins the Blasters on a three-year deal that lasts until the end of the 2025-26 season. Kerala Blasters Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys is delighted to welcome an experienced head in the squad with a young core already intact at the club.

He said,

“Prabir Das comes into the squad with a wealth of title-winning experience. We expect his presence as a senior player to have a positive impact on the younger members of the squad, both on and off the field.”

Skinkys continued,

“He has played with and against some of the best footballers in India across various tournaments and that knowledge combined with his skills should prove beneficial to the team. I wish Prabir all the very best, for the upcoming season.”

Hailing from West Bengal, Das has played for several clubs in ISL starting his journey with a loan move to Goa followed by a transfer to the erstwhile Delhi Dynamos.

Then, the attack-minded full-back moved back to Kolkata and spent seven seasons with Mohun Bagan, ATK, and ATK Mohun Bagan winning the I-League title with the Mariners in the 2014-15 season followed by Federation Cup in the 2015-16 season. Following his move to ATK, Das bagged two ISL titles with the Red and Whites before winning the 2022 Durand Cup with Bengaluru.

With 7 assists in 106 ISL appearances, Das would be hoping to strengthen the defense and the attack of the club with several experienced players leaving the Blasters ahead of the new season.

Das said,

“The management communicated a very exciting vision for the brand of football that they want to play and how I fit into it. I am eager to play a big part in bringing success to the club & I am grateful to the owners and management for showing faith in me. I cannot wait to get started and be on the right side of the Yellow Sea at Kaloor going forward!”

The Blasters recently released a statement about releasing several players including former skipper Jessel Carneiro, Harmanjot Khabra, Victor Mongil, Ivan Kaliuzhyni, Apostolos Giannou, and Muheet Khan. It was presumed that Khabra and Carneiro leaving the club together might be a tricky thing to deal with but securing the signature of Prabir for three years leaves the club in good stead.

Earlier in May, the Kerala-based club announced the signing of Australian forward Jaushua Sotirio who has represented Western Sydney Wanderers, Wellington Pheonix, and Newcastle Jets in the last decade.
